If you are an on-the-go mama, busy Goddess-preneur or metabolism-slowing middle age woman, here’s a recipe for a HEALTHY fast food breakfast that says, “Good morning, love!” to your precious body.

When I hit menopause (happened super early for me), I got support from a professional health coach, who specializes in physical health and weight loss. The recipe below is a variation on one of her recipes. I start my day with a cup of warm lemon water followed later by a not-too-sweet low glycemic green smoothie for breakfast. My husband and I make green smoothies most mornings. It’s been 5 years and going strong.

We use organic ingredients and support our local farmers whenever possible. The extra cost is worth it for flavor, physical health benefits and impact on Mother Earth.

Taira’s Super Healthy Very Green Smoothie

The Basics: Leafy greens, fruit, liquid.
1 cup+ dark leafy greens–spinach (mild tasting), kale, chard.
1-2 cups fruits–fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries, banana. Fresh orange, apple. (Taira uses ½ of an orange and 1/3-½ banana, because these fruits are sugary.)
1 cup liquid–water, coconut water, unsweetened almond milk.
Boost it with:
1 T each of raw chia seeds, flax seed oil
1-2 T green powder (Taira’s favorite is Green Vibrance by Vibrant Health, which contains pro-biotics.)
1 t each of raw cocoa powder, raw cocoa nibs. (Taira also adds local bee pollen when possible.)
½ t each of cinnamon powder, turmeric, raw ginger root
sprinkle of cayenne pepper

Blend greens and liquid until smooth. Add fruit and other ingredients and blend again until smooth. Enjoy!

As with all foods that you take into your body temple, deeply listen to what works best for you.
