Last night, I had a dream about mistakes, blame, opportunity and empowerment.

It’s a sunny afternoon and I am in front of my childhood home. I am on the driveway with a small group of teenage girls. There are a few open boxes of items for me to take to a family meal. My sister has packed the boxes carefully and all items fit snugly. The girls take a bottle of wine out of a box. It accidentally drops. The bottle smashes and red wine spills. The girls try to blame the breakage on my sister for not packing the box well. (Which is ridiculous.) The dad of one of the girls pulls up in an expensive black SUV. He is here to pick them up. In the car is another man. The girls have a quick hushed conversation with the dad. Telling him about the broken bottle and the poorly packed box. He seems to take up their cause, because he gets puffed up and in an authoritarian voice says to me, “Who’s the head of this household?!!” For a moment, I feel scared. Then, my strength returns. I walk to him, look him in the eye, and say, “I have a pussy and I AM THE HEAD OF THIS HOUSEHOLD!”
