For the past week, I’ve been looking forward to using my oh-so-clever metaphor of 20/20 vision (aka perfect vision). What if you had 20/20 vision for 2020?

I researched visual acuity, the clarity of a person’s vision. I learned that in countries that use meters, 20/20 vision is called 6/6 vision, which unfortunately does not have the same ring to it. What if you had 6/6 vision for 2020?

Though I have blurry vision in both eyes, wearing only one contact lens works for me. I wear a contact lens in my right eye, which then has 20/20 vision to see distances. My left eye is sensitive and doesn’t like to wear a lens. So I use this ‘natural’ eye to see close up–mostly for reading.

After years of this odd and creative solution, today, my right eye rejected wearing a contact lens. I have no idea why and I do not have a clever metaphor for this uncomfortable situation.

It is rather remarkable timing.

Because my life is an art process and I believe in improvisation, I am giving up on my New Year’s message about 20/20 vision.

Today, my eyes are taking a break from contact lens and glasses. And I ask . . .

What is my body wisdom’s message for you and I?

2020 is not about being clever; 2020 is an invitation to be authentic.

You do not need perfect clarity or the perfect plan regarding 2020. Life is a process. If you need guidance or support, ask for it.

When your vision is blurry, pause.

Look within.

The eyes of your heart have 20/20 vision. And 100% accuracy. Listen. Take action.

Explore the vision of your soul’s purpose.

Be a visionary. Be a visionary in your own timing and in your own way. Be you. Do you.
