There are May Day traditions all around the world. The Divine Feminine is celebrated by honoring
~*~ Flora, goddess of flowers
~*~ Maia, goddess of springtime, growth and increase
~*~ Queen of the Fairies, creatrix of magic
~*~ Mother Mary, queen of heaven
~*~ Mother Earth and her fertility

On May Day, when I was a girl, my sister and I wore crowns of roses. We sang songs to honor Mother Mary and we laid flowers at her feet. I still remember the depth of my devotion.

I believe that Mother Mary was a virgin in the ancient sense.
A woman one-in-herself. Powerful. A teacher. . . .
An embodiment of Shakti. . . . A sacred vessel. . . .
–Rebecca Campbell, Rise Sister Rise

Over the years, I have enjoyed many May Festivals, which included dancing ’round a Maypole and crowning a May Queen.

Yesterday, I spoke with my mom about my name, Taira, which is a variation of Tiara, a type of crown worn by queens and princesses. (Yes!)

Whatever your beliefs and practices, today is an ancient portal, a day outside of time. Tap into the sacred, which is all around you, in you, IS YOU.

For inspiring this Lovemap, gratitude to Tamalpa Life/Art Process, movement-based Expressive Arts, which I have practiced and taught since the 1983.

with love from my sovereign heart to yours,

P.S. As I wrote this first Wise Hearted Wednesday message for you, a hummingbird flew into my office! I gently gathered her up and brought her back outside, where she drank nectar from Pineapple Sage blossoms and recovered from her adventure.

May you be blessed with her magic.
